I caught my first fish at age 5. It was a Rainbow Trout out of a in ground pool at a small Northern California amusement park. A Hemingway like moment it was not...but, it was enough to get me hooked. I grew up fishing with friends and my brother on the rivers and ponds within biking distance of home. While neither of my parents fished they indulged my passion, often driving my best friend Pete and I to more distant locals to fish on the weekends. By the time I entered High School I was spending my summers living with relatives at the Jersey shore, working on the head boats and charter boats of Manasquan Inlet.

In '96 I graduated from Maine Maritime with a degree in Nautical Science. I spent the next two years working as a 3rd Mate aboard crude oil tankers. I logged two trans-Atlantic crossings and numerous trips from Valdez, AK to the West Coast in that time.

As I began studying for my 1600 Ton Masters License I realized that while the Merchant Marine provided me with a good living, my passion, truly was fishing. In the spring of '99 I resigned my position aboard the tankers and moved to the Outer Banks of NC to pursue a full time fishing career. Since that time I have honed my fishing skills, working the deck out of the Outer Banks, Stuart, FL. Kona, HI. the Great Barrier Reef, and Cape Verde. I have been a freelance charter boat and private boat Capt. from Hatteras and Oregon Inlets, NC and Manasquan, NJ.
