Custom Made Rods for the Potential Grand Slam(Blue Marlin/White Marlin/Sailfish) 30 lb class with Shimano 2 speed reels with custom Handles for the more stubborn fish. These handles will allow you to "fight the fish not the equipment". Then if you get the Slam or Superslam(Spearfish) we have Duel 80lb Reels and custom Rods for the potential "Fantasy Slam"(SWORDFISH).
These reels allow you to reel in one direction for low gear and when you want to go to high gear all you do is reel in the opposite direction. It makes the landing of a big fish much easier. We have both the Marlin Buckle Harness in the 130 lb TUNA CHAIR and smaller 30lb harness with waist belts for stand-up fighting those stubborn WHITE MARLIN that like to "dig in".
What To Bring To The Punta Cana Fishing Charter
Punta Cana fishing
Captain Terry Brennan and Turn Me Loose Charters will supply everything you need to catch fish which will include top brand name rod n reels, fishing tackle, live or artificial baits, and even ice for the fish. We have provided a list of a few things you may want to bring that may make your Punta Cana fishing trip more comfortable below. In addition to the listed items, if you have a pair of boat shoes like Topsiders or Docksiders then you should wear them. Tennis shoes or other soft soled shoes are OK too.
DO NOT wear hard soled shoes such as an old pair of dress shoes, penny loafers, or similar as they leave black scuff marks all over the deck plus there is a real danger of slipping right onto your backside in a split second. Tennis shoes, boat shoes, or flip flops are recommended.
A sports bag is a good idea to bring for carrying your rain gear, hat, glasses etc and other personal items that you need on a saltwater charter fishing trip. |
If you will be fishing in foul or rainy weather then you may want to bring some gear to keep you dry. Not as important on boats with covers and cabins like the Turn Me Loose. |

Bring sun glasses. Preferrably polarized fishing glasses to lessen the sun's glare that reflects up off the water. |
Bring a camera to take snapshots of those big fish you catch or video of the beautiful offshore waters of Punta Cana. |
A hat or ball cap is a good idea, especially for you guys that are getting a bit thin on top. Protect your head from the sun's burning rays. |
If you get sea sick or aren't sure if you get sea sick then it is a very wise idea to take your Dramamine before you leave the dock. Nothing can ruin a fishing trip worse than a guy named "RALPH". |
The Punta Cana fishing region can get very hot during the summer. Make sure you bring sunscreen, especially if you burn. If you have sunburn then you can't enjoy your Punta Cana charter fishing trip. |
You probably already paid for the trip but you should make sure you have some cash in pocket so you can tip the First Mate. Being Mate on a charter boat is not easy work and these guys deserve every dime they get. Tip them well!
